Structural response of a compliant pipe-in-pipe under frictionless and frictional conditions of the seabed

Pipe-in-Pipe (PIP) technology has been studied significantly owing to its superior performance in deep-water and high-pressure high temperature fields than conventional single pipe. The PIP system excellent track record of mitigating flow assurance problems from subsea wells through maintenance the fluid's It also applied marine environment where pipe cannot perform. However, complex interaction contact within seabed, mechanism load transfer stresses that developed due pressure, combined loading not fully understood quantified. Therefore, this study examined effect on systems for flat seabed pipeline. Simulations are performed frictional frictionless conditions individual results inner pipe, insulation material outer presented each analysis. analytical calculations carried-out determining operating component view significance overall structural behaviour validation numerical model. impact response based combination both (pressure temperature) resulting stress investigated result presented. Furthermore, axial, radial hoop condition with coupled analysis corresponding simulation (Frictional Frictionless conditions) found be closely similar percentage difference less 5 except von Mises which give 5.3%. This interesting finding revealed friction force does affect integrity compared - pipeline assuming all other parameters remains constant. Moreover, presence enhanced predicts pipe-in-pipe composite specimens under conditions. obtained will serve as a reference guide designing, construction future develop unconventional challenging energy resources like High Pressure Temperature fields.
